How about that!

A simple, elegant, intuitive, IntelliGantt(!) project tool that makes it easy for project managers to connect with their teams, easy for teams to execute projects and easy for MS Project and MindManager to work with SharePoint and Groove.

I’ve been wearing a marketing hat for a while, but now I get to try on a sales hat. No its not tall and pointy :) It’s only uncomfortable because I don’t consider myself a salesman.

But, being an owner of TeamDirection means I want to know how everything is working, from developmet through marketing and ultimately sales. And I will do my best to make sure everything is coming together for our customers.

What this means for you, aside from great project management software, is you might just get a call from me some day. For the first few recipients, I apologize in advance for my stuttering and stammering– I’ll eventually sound smooth and polished on the phone.

But know also I won’t be just talking, I’ll be listening too. And the things you have to say have a great chance of making their way into our product.

Sunflower in Natural Light

The blue colors in the center of the flower are amazing. This nearly the same frame as the "The Surprised Sunflower" except the lighting was completely natural.

“Guaranteed in Stock” Debunked

I swear, I was *just* about to write a really positive post about Blockbuster Video’s New “Total Access” program (which I think is totally great and I will definitely try), but upon visiting a Blockbuster location this evening, I ran into another episode of Blockbuster ridiculousness I had to post about.

You see, Blockbuster has this promotion called “Guaranteed In Stock!”, which leads consumers to believe something along the lines of “If you come to a Blockbuster store for a really popular movie, we’ll have it in stock… guaranteed.” They even back it up by proclaiming that if it *isn’t* in stock, you get to rent it for free as soon as copies become available.

So you can imagine my surprise when I saw the display below at my local store:…

Seattle goes ice skating

Last night I tried to wait until traffic calmed down before leaving my day job… It was a long day, thanks to a series of small technical and non-technical complications playing against an urgent issue, and my own inexperience with the mysteries of the team’s build system.

It got longer, though, when snow started coming down. I kept the traffic flow maps handy on a background window after hearing that snow was accumulating even on the freeway. After things settled down a bit, I left, but it was slow going.

I believe it took a bit more than 20 minutes to make it the half block distance between the garage and the road, thanks to ice on the road and confused people.

The freeway itself had cleared up by then; I went to pick up a colleague who was stranded after some bus mishaps, and headed across the bridge without any particular obstacles. I-5 slowed down around 65th, and I pulled off to bypass the traffic in favor of surface streets heading to Northgate. Unfortunately, one of the hills near Maple Leaf was backed up like mad… I think it took an hour to get down a hill that would normally be a 5–10 minute burden. I finally started heading home, which took another 30 minutes thanks to an icy 125th St. and Aurora Ave.

I got home around 9:45, after leaving work at 7:20. It was rather ugly.

Waking up to KUOW in the morning I heard that people were being told to stay home if at all possible, that most of the roads were actually in worse shape thanks to the overnight freeze, and that even when the freeways were clear the surface roads in Redmond and northern parts of Seattle would be risky.

I checked my survival gig email account and learned that the offices were closed, and asked a few other colleagues if they braved driving the Eastside today, and the answers were all negative.

So I dedicated the day to doing work for my own business, although at a rather sluggish pace. There’s only a seven block commute to that office. It turns out, though, that FedEx Ground services were suspended for the day, so my packages didn’t go anywhere.

Notable accumulations of ice and snow are such rare occurrences on roads in Seattle that nobody quite knows how to deal with such natural disasters as two or three inches of snow.

Dretox

Let’s all get a little gangsta for a minute.

Dr. Dre last released a solo album (Chronic 2001) over seven years ago. Since then, he’s been rumored to be working on a follow-up called Detox. However, that album has yet to hit stores, and it’s been obvious that Dre has been focusing his attention on all the great artists that have signed to his Aftermath label.

Almost completely by chance, a few days back I ran across Get Right Music, a site dedicated to rap mixtapes. It was there that I ran across a mixtape called Dretox. I’ve been listening to it on repeat ever since.

If you’re a fan of classic Dr. Dre beats and enjoyed the high-caliber collaborations on Chronic 2001, you will love this mixtape. From what I’ve read about the compilation, it’s basically composed of a bunch of Detox material that Dre apparently didn’t think was up to par? As I’ve been telling everyone I know that listens to rap music, the stuff Dre chooses not to release is better than the stuff most rap artists these days are putting on their flagship albums.

If you’re interested in checking out the mixtape, you can download it directly here via Get Right Music. Once you’ve done that, be sure to add numbers to the beginning of the filenames so you play the mixtape in the proper order, according to this tracklisting. And if you’re really a stickler (like I am), rename the “We Up To No Good” track with the “2″ at the end to “Hard Liquor” (track 3), since that’s the proper title for the track. Oh, and track 15 is actually titled “Finer Thangzzz,” and Eve is featured on track 11 (in addition to Mary J. Blige).

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

I think I’m losing my touch. Here’s this very interesting photo sharing application done in Flex and I didn’t even know it existed until JD posted about a party they’re having. Even though I’m smarting a bit because I’m missing what is very possibly the first Web 2.0/Flex 2 party, I checked out Pikeo. […]
