SI: Common sense on Hutch’s impact

Nice to see some common sense from Jeffri Chadiha of Sports Illustrated on the subject of the Seahawks’ off-season and the impact of losing Steve Hutchinson. Chadiha gives the Hawks an A- grade for the off-season with this bit of perspective on the Hutch loss:
What Went Wrong: They lost Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson to […]

Darrell Jackson: Man of many talents

D-Jack took batting practice Monday night in Tampa Bay wearing a No. 82 Devil Rays uniform. From the Tampa Tribune comes this:
After struggling early, he got a few hitting tips from Rays senior adviser Don Zimmer, and smashed a couple pitches to the warning tracks in left and center field.
Jackson, who shares an agent with […]

Need help w/Seahawks-related thing

I could use some help for a small Seahawks-related thing I’m working on. Specifically, I’m looking for quotes/predictions about the Hawks’ running game, Shaun Alexander, and the departure of Steve Hutchinson.
As you read through various NFL season previews, if you come across someone saying something like “The loss of Hutchinson might cripple Seattle’s running game” […]

Good Shaun? Bad Shaun?

I wish I could figure out Shaun Alexander.
We know he’s a Good Guy. Back in April we learned all about his big plans for the Shaun Alexander Foundation. He talked about wanting to make a difference in the community, using his celebrity to for good. “How can we get Seattle on the map?”, he asked. […]

Alexander the faithful

Kinda long article in today’s Mobile (AL) Press-Register that mainly talks about Shaun Alexander’s faith, but also covers a few other things…like his predictions for the coming NFL season:
“This season is going to be awesome,” he said. “When you have a season like we did (in 2005), you can either take the pressure of repeating […]

Alexander knows video games

I’m still a bit befuddled by the thought of an article on Madden 2007 (and video games in general) appearing in the New York Times, but okay … tomorrow’s edition has exactly such an article. And it happens to feature none other than Shaun Alexander, who was in NY last week as part of the […]

Seahawk Respect

Missed this one from earlier in my vacation…
Seahawks are #1 in ESPN’s initial 2006 power poll.
And the ESPN experts think the Hawks will walk over the NFC West just as easily as they did last year. AZ is the next highest-ranked team from the division, but all the way down at #21. Ouch.

Seahawks Predictions #1

I know I’ve said before that NFL mags shouldn’t be allowed to make predictions until after baseball’s All-Star break, but ain’t nobody listening. Via USA Today comes word that five NFL mags have already posted their 2006 NFL predictions.
In a nutshell: none have the Hawks returning to the Super Bowl, but all have them winning […]

12th Man 61,000th Man

While Mariners’ attendance is sinking, Seahawks’ ticket sales are going the other way. From the Biz Journal: Seahawks sell out 2006 season tickets.
Nice.
“A few years ago in my first season, I was disappointed in seeing opposing teams’ jerseys in our stands, but it is now with great pride we will witness a sea of blue […]

Tuesday Night News-o-rama

MLB Draft 1st day today: 14 of the Mariners 18 picks are pitchers, 11 of them at the college level. Brandon Morrow is the main guy here, the 5th overall selection. I won’t be too surprised to see him in Seattle this season. There’s a lot of hand-wringing about the M’s passing on Andrew Miller, […]
